Chios
Villages built on plains or rocks and others near
the coast, full of smells and sounds of the fresh wind and the deep
blue sea of the Aegean, hugging around the island. Chios is a hospitable
island; and its residents polite and peaceful, ready to welcome
with love and kindness the new visitors.
Chios is one of the islands of the north -east Aegean, very close
to Asia Minor and opposite the Erithrea peninsula, separated from
it by the Chios Canal. The country of Chios extends to 842 square
kilometers and has a population of about 54.000 people.
It consists of three islands: Chios, Inousses and Psara.
The town of Chios - Chora, the capital collect about the half of
the population. The region consists of 10 Municipalities (Chios,
Homeroupolis, Kardamila, Kampochora, Mastichochoria, Amanis, Psara,
Inousses, ionia, Agiou Mina) most of which were formed after the
joining of small communities.
